You get a consistently high quality product from North Country Lumber. The latest technology in computer systems and industrial equipment, along with close monitoring by our technicians, allows us to know exactly what is happening with your lumber at all times.

Our business starts with the short growing seasons in northern Wisconsin, which produce a fine grained stock that dresses to perfection.

Our logging and stumpage buying controls further the quality of the raw material shipped to our facilities.

Once at our facilities, logs are sawed with our Cleereman carriage McDonough double cut band mill, which produces 4,000,000 board feet annually.

Then, the lumber is graded by one of our National Hardwood Lumber  Association trained Inspectors. All low grade lumber is now ready for sale, and the remaining high grade lumber continues in the procurement process.

To meet production needs, North Country Lumber increases inventory by purchasing additional grade 2A and better lumber at this point in the process.

We purchase 7,200,000 board feet of northern hardwood green lumber annually from other mills that meet our high standards

Immediately following inspection, all 2A and better lumber is placed on sticks for drying.

Once on sticks, our lumber is transferred and loaded into 1 of our eight 50,000 Board foot capacity Dry Kilns

Lumber is dried in our American Wood dry kilns designed for the tough task of drying white woods. Our dry kilns are operated by a modern computer system, which controls reduction of moisture content in hardwood to 6-8%.

With a total capacity of 400,000 board feet at any time, our annual kiln dried hardwood production is 10,000,000 board feet.

Our surfacing services include a nice finish with our Newman 282 hit and miss planer, which has 10,000,000 board feet annual surfacing capacity.

With our new 80 foot sorting line, All lumber is inspected after drying and surfacing.

We also have a Mereen Johnson Straight Line Rip Saw for all of your ripping needs.
